If people want they can play in your box as well but you are the one who makes the decisions.
Premise of Blackjack
In Blackjack you want to get as close to 21 as possible without going over. Receiving 21 on your first two cards is known as Blackjack or a natural. If you exceed 21 you bust and lose automatically. If you are under you need to be closer to 21 than the dealer.
In Blackjack, an Ace is either 1 or 11 depending on what you want. 2-9 are as indicated and the 10 and face cards are all worth 10.
After your first two cards you will get the choice to receive extra cards. To receive a card is to hit. To decline is to stand.
The dealer is bound by a seat of rules. He must stand on 17 or greater and below must take a card. For the dealer the Ace will always count as 11 unless he would otherwise bust. So if a dealer receives A-6 he can not take another card. If a dealer receives A-2-10 he does.
Splitting Aces and then receiving a 10 does not qualify as a Blackjack.
A win pays 1:1 and doubles your money. Blackjack pays 3:2. Blackjack gets paid out immediately unless the dealer has a 10 or Ace in which case you wait until seeing if the dealer makes one.
Blackjack Decisions
One of the attractions of Blackjack is that players have control of their own destiny.
You can make decisions. That also provides with it anguish as trying to decide whether to take another card or not. This has created a whole industry of Blackjack strategy, Blackjack tips and Blackjack advice.
Over time the percentages dictate what to do but the only right Blackjack strategy only comes with hindsight.
Technical Nuances of Blackjack
There are a few features of Blackjack which make the game interesting and see it deviate from the straight hit and stand play. These are outlined below.
Double Down
Doubling down is something a player can do and either brings with it great joy and riches or great despair.
After receiving his first two cards the player has the choice of doubling his bet but in return is only allowed to receive one and only one additional card.
It works well when you make 19, 20 or 21. Not so well when you get stuck on 13.
Splitting
Another option a player has up his sleeve is the ability to split when receiving two cards of the same values. You do so always on getting 8's or Aces.
You are able to resplit ie you receive two fours and on splitting your next card is a four - you can split again.
You can also double on splits.
Blackjacks made on splitting Aces are not considered so by the casino.
Insurance
Insurance is something the casino offers on the dealer receiving an Ace. Should you or shouldn't you is as old as the game itself.
The basic strategy player should simply never take the insurance bet.
Good luck!
